The Greenbrier: The Ultimate mix of Southern Charm and Luxury

I’ve always wanted to experience the southern charm of the Greenbrier Resort in White Sulpher Springs, West Virginia. After hearing stories from friends about their spectacular spa, wonderful kid’s activities, and world class golf course, we decided it was time to check it out for our family!

Having just returned from full week stay with my husband and 2 year old son, I have to say I am convinced that Greenbrier has the best hospitality and service around and I can’t wait to go back next year!

There were so many highlights to our stay, I absolutely recommend this resort for families looking to experience the grandeur of a gorgeous historic luxury resort.

A Grand Entrance: When we arrived at the Greenbrier it almost felt like we were guests at the White House. The building is beautiful with a grand entrance full of historic architectural details. Guests are treated like celebrities by the staff and greeted with Champagne and a full list of activities and happenings at the hotel.

Stylish and Spacious Accommodations for Families: We stayed in one of the well-appointed Paradise Row Legacy Cottages with the most fabulous of décor. To me the style felt like it was a combination of Lilly Pulitzer meets Tory Burch and Jonathan Adler. All my favorites- I was in heaven!

The main door opened to a large sitting room with a wet bar, full bathroom, couch and fireplace. This connected to a large bedroom with another full bath and large dressing room. It was perfect for our week long stay as we had plenty of room for our little one to run around and play.

Oh, and the turn down service was amazing! Each night they would leave us hand written notes wishing us the best in our stay as well as staging our son’s toys to greet him upon our return. Southern hospitality at its best!

Ultimate Kids Paradise: This resort really caters to families. Kids can run around the grounds for hours. We watched a demonstration about how glass blowing works. My son loved playing with the fantastic toys in Fizzy’s toy store. And when we return as he gets older, he will certainly partake in the fun activities at kids club. Every night there is a kid’s movie in the Greenbrier Theatre. This was a perfect way for us to end a great family vacation day. Each night we would enjoy an early dinner and then catch the kid’s movie with some snacks and popcorn.

Luxe Pool:

The main pool was very relaxing and perfect for spending a low key day. The water was heated to a perfect warm temp and the depth was a slow incline that was great for a toddler just learning to swim. We ate lunch poolside almost every day.

The service at the pool was spectacular, our glasses were never empty. The café had a wonderful menu that included healthy options as well as more the standard poolside fare. The kids meals came in adorable Greenbrier branded sand buckets with shovels which came in handy for after lunch play by the pool.

Spectacular Spa and World Class Golf: My husband and I each took a turn enjoying some time to ourselves. I had a wonderful facial and manicure/pedicure. My services were absolutely out of this world and the spa was breathtaking. Such a relaxing environment and well designed. It was a great way to relax and unwind.

My husband played 18 holes at the world renowned Greenbrier course. He enjoyed the challenging course and amazing views.

Culinary Delights Throughout the Resort: The Greenbrier is known for its culinary and gourmet influences. Each night we enjoyed meals from different restaurants on the property. There was an excellent mix of food and restaurant options and they were very accommodating to kids and food allergies.

We were especially impressed with the Forum. After explaining my son’s food allergy situation we were provided with a specialty allergen free appetizer from the Chef to welcome us.

Each meal was better than the next. We savored our fabulous Prime steak dinner at Prime 44 West and enjoyed daily afternoon treats at Drapers.

Magnificent Grounds : We enjoyed touring the spectacular resort grounds and seeing all of the shops and activities. One of the main highlights was the must-do horse & carriage ride that took us throughout the resort.

We got a glimpse of the Greenbrier Classic setup process which my husband was very excited about. The resort is massive and from the golf course to the exquisite landscape, our eyes couldn’t help but appreciate the rolling mountains and scenic views around every corner.
