Throw Back Thursday – 1991 New Comiskey Park

This photo captures a great memory of my family’s first visit to the new Comiskey Park in spring 1991 right after the park opened.  We lived in central Illinois and traveled north to Chicago for the weekend.

My Uncle Arthur had worked on the construction of the new Comiskey park and he treated us to our first White Sox baseball game in amazing seats a few rows behind home plate.  I remember everything about the excitement of that day, having lunch in the Stadium Club and watching Bo Jackson at bat.  My Uncle Arthur was so proud of the park and toured us all around showing off the details.

We took this crazy family photo goofing around in the parking lot on the way out. Uncle Arthur passed away a year later, this is one of my all time favorite memories of spending family time together with him, my Aunt Jane and cousin Charlie in Chicago.  Now, we live in Chicago and my son Harry is a true White Sox fan. We love going to Sox games all summer long, each time we are in the ball park I think for a minute of this fun day and remember my Uncle Arthur.
